This is a composite I created using simple blend modes and layer adjustments.

If you know anything about me you know that I’m a huge fan of multiple exposures. A few digital cameras can do it but mine doesn’t so I have to find other means of creating the look I want. I’ve finally found the look but I still haven’t found the best way of shooting for it yet. I wish film processing was still cheap and easily accessible. Oh, and getting it scanned is the most expensive of all now.

As artists we always seem to be blocked by money right? We don’t make an extreme amount of money yet we’re all okay with not making an extreme amount of money. We struggle.

Airplanes fly.

Fly very high.

High above us.

Us.

Things can get done if I can sit and get them done.

And by things I mean art.

I’ve been looking forward to finding a way to produce the same look that I produce with my Holga camera. Today I took the lensbaby out and shot about 150 photographs. Went to Shades of Brown and picked out the best ones and started placing them. Ended up with this look.

Tomorrow I will do another.

Hopefully.

Okay, so I want to start pushing my photography. I want to start pushing it. I want to start combining multiple images into one photographic being.

This will start very soon. Tomorrow even. My film camera allows me to control how many multiple exposures I want on a frame. Up to nine I believe. The Holga also gives me freedom to shoot as many exposures I want.

I’ve been looking for a better way to do this digitally but shooting something like this with digital makes it hard to visualize for some reason. When I can shoot film I can visualize what’s already on the frame and what I want it to eventually end up as. Perhaps that is what I must develop first- digital imagination.

Until then I’m sticking to film for composites.
